Posted: 12 Dec 2011 09:11 PM PST
The Writers’ Centre as part Central West Libraries was award highly commended in the Programs Category of the 2011 NSW Marketing Awards for Public Libraries for it’s writing workshop series and website Words From the Dust.
It highlights stories about memories and life on the land from older people in regional NSW who attended writing workshops held in six locations – Condobolin, Grenfell, Forbes, Cowra, Blayney and Orange.
The series of writing workshops for older Australian over 50 was supported by the Central West writers’ Centre through a Positive Ageing Grant from the Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care .
Congratulations to all involved especially all the writers who are sharing their stories.

Email from Vidler to my colleague Lorraine Purcell:

....... the award would not have been possible without you and Noeline. So its a feather in your caps really!!

Writers are regularly meeting in Grenfell and Cowra and I still get comments from the Orange and Blayney writers on how much they enjoyed it. They'll be able to keep contributing to the website for next year.

It has been a very exciting project, thanks again, Jasmine
